About Kauai’s East Side
Wailua | Kapaa | Kealia | Anahola
Kauai’s windward East side is nick-named the “Coconut Coast” for the plentiful coconut trees that landscape its coastline. Here you will find the towns of Wailua, Kapa`a, Waipouli, Kealia, and Anahola. There is a 7+ mile coastal bike and walking path along the Kapaa Coastline extending from Lydgate Park to Kealia Beach and beyond. Also in this region, is the Wailua River, Hawaii’s only navigable river, and a popular location for Outrigger Canoe paddling, skiing, wakeboarding, paddleboarding, and kayak and hiking excursions to Secret Falls. Kapaa is a small but bustling town with beachside cafes, shopping, resorts, and a large selection of food trucks. Wailua Homesteads and Houselots are populated rural residential areas that enjoy the convenience of proximity to Kapaa Town.
To the North of Kapaa, is Anahola, a quiet, rural residential beach community. Hawaiian Home Lands are located here, property and homes for those of Hawaiian descent. Anahola Bay is sheltered by a large reef and has beautiful white sand beaches.
